ઘરનું ઘર

GHAR NU GHAR
Family drama Ahmedabad · Gujarati Screenplay complete Seeking producer & director

A middle-class family handed a builder ten years of savings for a home that will never be poured in concrete. He never shouted. He never ran. He simply waited for their hope to do the breaking for him.

The home was never the flat.
You already know a family this happened to. Look closer. It might be yours.
SCROLL · THE GIST BELOW
No mystery. No spoilers. Just the ache.

The story, told straight

Heena feeds four families at five in the morning so her own family can chase one address. Ten years of tiffin money, a gold bangle, her husband's father's shop savings, all of it went into a flat in a tower that stopped at eleven grey floors.

The builder, Praful Shah, is not a monster. He is calm. He goes to the same Navratri. He answers his phone. His only weapon is time, and he has more of it than a family running on hope.

But the film is not the family against the builder. The wound is closer than that. Her husband Mihir sells trust for a living, and cannot spend a single true sentence at his own table. When the builder offers him a quiet half-settlement, Mihir hides it for four days while his wife fights the whole world alone, not knowing.

So the real question is not whether they get the flat back. It is whether two people can still tell each other the truth.

Somewhere, a phone is still ringing. Calmly answered.
Every family builds it twice

Once in their head. Once in the ache.

Heena built this home a thousand times before a single brick was laid. Fourth floor, second window from the left. The furniture already arranged in her head.

Watch it go up. Then watch what ten years of waiting does to it.

The only thing they ever finished was the model in the sales office.

Eleven grey floors. No windows. Rust weeping down the concrete. A hoarding still promising "possession: December," a December with no year attached.

They were forty-seven families once. A WhatsApp group with a fighting name. Watch what waiting does to a number.

Who is in the house

Every one of them starts at zero, climbs to ten, and comes back changed. No one here is only good or only guilty.

Lead · 42THE ENGINE

Heena Vora

Wants the money back. Needs her own voice.

She swallowed everything without a word for ten years. The film is her learning to speak, even if she has to speak alone.

An LIC agent who sells trust all day and cannot afford one true sentence at home. His change is the whole climax.

Praful Shah

Wants to wait everyone out. Settle cheap.

He does not flee. Same city, same temple, still answering his phone. His calm is the horror, not menace. You barely see him. You feel him everywhere.

The real war is not where you think

Silence vs Voice

His weapon

Silence

Mihir believes that if he stays calm, it resolves. That truth spoken out loud is what breaks a family. So he hides, delays, and turns off the light: the oldest weapon in a marriage, the dark.

Her need

Voice

Heena believes the swallowing has to stop. She opens every door, gathers the collective, and finally signs the complaint for herself, not waiting for anyone. Her hand shakes. She signs anyway.

This is not a film about a builder. It is a film about a marriage that forgot how to tell the truth.

What is a home, the flat or the people in it?
The film has an answer. The home is whether two people can still tell each other the truth.

The scariest thing he does is show up to Navratri.

Across the same garba ground, in a clean kurta, clapping along with his own laughing daughter spinning, stands the man who took everything. He sees Heena. He does not flinch. A small, polite namaste. Then he turns back to the dance.

he is not a fugitive. he is at the same Navratri. that is the horror.
TO PRODUCERS & DIRECTORS
The pitch, without the polish

This film is about a home that never got its builder. Right now, so is the film.

Ghar Nu Ghar is a finished feature screenplay. Forty-three scenes, three acts, spoken-real Gujarati, an ending that is bittersweet by design and refuses to lie to the audience. The pages are ready. The set is not.

The story warns you what happens when you trust a builder who does not finish what he starts. So this one is looking for the opposite kind of builder. Someone who does.
